We recently stayed at the Bottom Chapel. The B&B is a lovely converted church in the Yorkshire Village of Askrigg. We stayed in the main double bedroom, which was big and very comfortable. It had to beautiful stain glass church windows and a spotless on suit. I was impressed that the room came with a hairdryer, as this is a... More

We stayed here on the second leg of my wife's birthday weekend for 2 nights and we had an excellent stay with an extremely warm welcome. The rooms have stained glass since this was originally Askrigg's Wesleyan Methodist Chapel. It's very well appointed inside and there's an excellent breakfast. Unfortunately, and it's not the owener's fault, but there is only... More

My wife and I have just had the pleasure of staying at the Bottom Chapel for the 2nd time and it was as good as we remembered from our first visit. The building is fantastic and the rooms spotless and well equipped. Breakfast was delicious and Ian did a fantastic job considering that he was on his own for the... More

I have to say that this is one of the best B&Bs I have stayed in. The rooms were adorable, beautifully decorated with original features including lovely stained glass windows. Ian and Betsy were perfect hosts, making us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The homemade cake in the room was a lovely touch as well. Breakfast... More

I stayed here the night before my wedding and then on my wedding night and for me this is the place that all other b&b's will be judged by. The chapel has been converted to such a high standard, and while now having a very modern interior loses none of it's charms and still has many original features. The attention... More

Beautiful room in a glorious house in the stunning village of Askrigg. Everything was above standard. Crisp bedlinen, electric blanket, above standard tea and coffee making facilities (slices of home made cake!), Superlative breakfast, delicious home made granola, fresh fruit, proper toast. Friendly, welcoming hosts. Would not hesitate to book again, thanks Ian and Betsy! More

My husband and I stayed at Bottom Chapel with our two teenage children. My sister and her husband, who live in Denver Colorado, joined us too. Betsy and Ian are the perfect hosts and their home is beautiful. Booking was easy and Betsy gave us all the information we needed and even booked us a table for dinner at the... More

I first came across Bottom Chapel in August this year when a friend of mine and myself had planned to stay at a hotel in Aysgarth, a village close to Askrigg, and when we arrived to find it had closed we had a task on our hands to find another place to stay. After driving around for an hour or... More

How lovely to spend time in a beautiful home - in the attractive village of Askrigg. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts and we enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast with fresh fruit salad each day. We will certainly be back. More

This review is slightly late as I was awaiting the gift of superlative travel writing to give Bottom Chapel its due but as that hasn't happened I will begin with my limited skills.... Our room and bathroom was immaculate and it was large enough to be very comfortable for us even when equipped with a travel bed that had been... More
