We had a great stay at Knap House. Our host Alistair was a pleasure to meet. Our Double room was spotless, warm and cosy and we had a good view of the harbour. We would recommend Alistair's delicous breakfast, which set us up nicley for the day. The log fire was very welcoming in the lounge. The Hotel is well... More

We had an excellent stay at Knap Guest House! Our twin room was very clean, with a beautiful view of the harbour. The bathroom was large and very modern. It seems that the Guest House was refurbished recently, so it had a great feel of everything being new. We had a great two nights' sleep as the beds were very... More

We arrived early evening and were greeted by a very firendly lady who checked us in. She recommened a local restaurant (The Anchorage) which was fantatsic and great value. Anyway, our room was very comfortable. There is a shared sitting room with an open fire which is very cosy and comfortably furnished. The breakfast was great. Overall, a very clean... More

On a tour of Western Scotland in gale force winds we had an unscheduled 3 hour drive to reach Tarbert as our ferry had been cancelled - all worthwhile in the end as Alistair was a complete treasure. He came out to greet us (it's not easy to spot Knap in the dark, an unassuming looking building but stunning inside)... More

The internet search made minutes before hopping on the Ullapool to Stornoway ferry was for accommodation in Tarbert Isle of Lewis. Arrive late in the evening to find out that booked accommodation was in Tarbert Argyll, several hundred miles away. Fortunately the people in Tarbert Isle of Lewis were very helpful in finding accommodation at very short notice. Unfortunately the... More

What a great find. Outstanding location for exploring the western islands and surrounding area. Outstanding property - with quality renovations, great amenities and a hearty breakfast to send you off. All this wrapped up by the most friendly host we have experienced ever. Alistair Wilkie sets a new standard for guest houses. Location, quality facilities, friendly service and good value... More

This is an exceptionally nice guest house. It's immaculately clean and tidy with nice rooms and great attention to detail. The kitchen opens onto the dining area and Alistair cooks a super breakfast before your eyes. Tarbert is a busy little commercial port and, for such a small village, it has an excellent choice of good quality restaurants within a... More

We stayed here on business on May 2011 and had a great stay. The owner is very friendly and helpful, our room was cosy and clean, and breakfast was AMAZING. The only negative was that our room was a little bit on the small side, but it was very comfortable. Highly recommended. More
