5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2013 NEW

We booked a two night stay after sailing to Campbeltown on the new ferry service from Ardrossan. Check-in was very efficient, we only had to give our name and sign in. The room was very comfortable although it was on the small side. We enjoyed all our meals as all the food was excellent and the staff very friendly. We... More

We stayed at the anchor for a weekend of sailing and very much enjoyed the experience. Location is perfect right on the harbour front with a beautiful view over Loch Fyne. Tarbert is very busy during the sailing seasons and I thought that the hotel coped very well with the crowds of sailors and their families. The food was excellent... More

This hotel seemed perfect. I say seemed. Everything about the hotel was brand new and stylish. All the fixtures and fittings were in pristine condition and modern. Our stay was perfect......except for some very, very minor details. For instance, the tea kettle (which I never understood how to open the top to take water-maybe I am missing some catch or... More

We arrived the day after a yachting weekend and The Anchor Hotel appeared to be the only establishment that had the stamina to remain open ,so glad we had booked. The staff were very welcoming and helped with our luggage. Room overlooking the harbour lovely and decor excellent . The mattresses are exceptionally comfortable. Dinner fantastic and the staff coped... More

We were here for a wedding in the surrounding area and we initially tried to book the Tarbert Hotel that was already fully booked. The Anchor was a great choice and right next to the other hotel. Nice hotel, good value for money, right on the Tarbert harbour and few minutes walk from the castle. Good food and modern feel.... More

Stayed here for 1 night only as was travelling through, never ate in the restaurant but have in the past, heard they have changed chef's recently so would have been nice to compare but they were far to busy so we ate out. Housekeeping should pay a bit more attention to detail but that aside a great stay, bar staff... More

Our room overlooked the harbour. It was well furnished and comfortable with nice en suite bathroom. Dinner was excellent...we were served by a very helpful lady. I had home smoked salmon which was delicious followed by Tarbert scallops. My husband had beetroot cured salmon followed by fillet of lemon sole stuffed with smoked salmon mousseline. (Yes, a lot of salmon!!!)... More

This Hotel was a complete surprise. We stopped over for one night whilst sailing from Largs. Entering the harbour and seeing Tarbert all we were expecting was accommodation typical of the setting. It was obvious that a lot of money had been spent to bring this Hotel into the 21st Century. Finished to a very high standard. Add in very... More

Spend two nights here over the Bank Holiday weekend, rooms are lovely and tastefully decorated, view from room 1 looked over the pretty harbour. We ate in the hotel each evening, the first night in the restaurant and the food was faultless and the second night in the bar for the early bird supper which again was delicious and great... More

My first time back at the Anchor for over two years. Same great view over the harbour but the new owners have have given the place a great face-lift. Gone are the pink bedroom walls and time weary furnishings and now the place has a great modern look, a big comfortable bed and very smart tweed bedhead. Looking forward to... More
