The Old Vicarage on the Dolfor Road near Newtown, Powys, is an idyllic place to stay. We booked 5 nights as a family with 2 children, staying in the family suite which is comprised of 2 bedrooms sharing a bathroom. The bedrooms were comfortable, absolutely no noise, each with lovely views over rolling hills and grazing sheep. The sitting room... More

We made a last minute booking that seemed to suit Tim and Helen and ourselves and they couldn't have been more accommodating. We particularly appreciated their response to our request for sheets and blankets on our (very comfortable, locally sourced) bed rather than a duvet. The house is set on an A road, but the double glazing was so good... More

Another pleasant stay at Old Vicarage. Very high quality meals and comfortable beds. This is our second stay and found the standard to be very high. All aspects of running a comfortable hotel have been carefully considered by the owners of the Old Vicarage.

We had a two night stay here in March 2013. We stayed in Teme room - it is a beautifully decorated spacious room with an amazingly comfy large bed and romantic roll top bath. Tim and Helen were great hosts, we spend the weekend doing nothing helped by waking up to 6 inches of snow! Breakfast was relaxed and delicious... More

We escaped to Powys for a Saturday night in November 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed our visit with Tim and Helen and Ronnie (woof!). They've cleverly combined the charming flower-print wallpaper, authentic architectural mouldings and relaxing ticking clocks of an old vicarage with all the modern modern comforts you could want and a strong eco-stance (including an electric car charging point!).... Thank you for your lovely comments. The beef was local from Kerry and organic so it had a head start! This area of Mid Wales is very beautiful and sadly all to often, over-looked. More

Tim and Helen are excellent and friendly hosts who have created a wonderful B&B (or restaurant with rooms) with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The lounge is cosy, the bedrooms are spacious with lovely touches and the food is delicious. I have stayed here several times and each time is perfect. I hope to return.

Cosy lounge, lovely room and excellent food. The hosts Tim and Helen are very welcoming and accommodating. As a vegetarian I even get a specially prepared menu. Tim's cooking is superb, with ample portions.

Quite simply the nicest and friendliest place I have ever stayed! The welcome, food, bedroom and bathroom facilities and all top notch. I travel here on business and stay over more times than is strictly necessary just because it is so lovely. Thank you Helen and Tim!

We had our very first meal here on June 22nd 2012( this review is late due to th sudden death of close family just after my birthday). It was my birthday treat and I was not disappointed. Right from the start when Helen greeted us at the front door we were made to feel so welcome and at ease. All... More

We are so happy you had a wonderful birthday treat and very sorry to here of your loss of a close member of the family. We are an excellent venue for special occasions as it's like having your own private dining room with the menu based on home-grown produce when possible. We are very lucky to have such stunning views... More
