We were welcomed by Richard, a very nice host. He treated us on a nice bottle of white wine, delicious. A nice little swimming pool, big garden with lying chairs. The rooms in the garden are smaller and less comfortable than in the main building. No airco, can be a problem when it is hot... More

Lovely setting and excellent accommodation. Montagu a good place to stay on Route 62 - make sure you visit the bird corner. Richard was very helpful to us when one of our party was quite ill and we needed to stay an extra night. Would thoroughly recommend staying here. More

Agree wholeheartedly with the last three reviews. Montagu is a lovely little town and great place to break a trip on Route 62. More

Montagu is a delightful town in a most spectacular setting, and Montagu Vines is a great place to enjoy this. Although it is just a five minute walk from the main street, this place seems so secluded. It offers spectacular views across the valley and also the opportunity for some exploring and hiking without the need of your car. Our... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at Montagu Vines where Richard was a great host, welcoming us with a carafe of wine (and treating us to another on the next evening). He even loaned us his precious stick (which is named 'Do come back') for our walk in the mountains! Montagu is a delightful small town and the setting of... More

The Montagu Vines was an ideal place for us at the end of our trip- very relaxing, beautiful property with terrific hospitality. The gardens around the property were wonderful and the setting itself is very charming. Richard was a great host and his staff were so friendly. Breakfast is a real treat, lots of options and very good quality! Perfect... More

Whilst travelling Route 62 we stayed at Montagu for a night. We picked Montagu Vines as a result of its trip advisor rating, which is well justified. On checking in, Richard the Owner, was very welcoming sitting us down with a glass of wine and explaining the various attractions of the area. The room was delightful with a lovely view... More

Stayed here for a single night on my recent SA trip and found a lovely guest house with nice views of olive trees and very nicely designed gardens. I was welcomed by the manager, who gave me helpful advise on dining and travelling and showed me around the property. Room was very clean, nicely decorated, bed all comfortable. Minor drawback:... Unfortunately we had only booked a one night stay on our journey across to the eastern cape. Montagu is well worth a 3 or 4 night stop to see more of the area and Montagu Vines is an outstanding place to stay. Richard knows how to look after his guests but is not overpowering. Breakfasts are a treat with a... More

We arrived at Montagu Vines for one night and ended up staying four. Very pleasant gardens, very friendly and helpful host (even helped us get a broken-down car going on the day of departure), great wine, and the owl in the tree was a real treat, however there is a danger of over indulgence!!!
