My girlfriend and I just got back from a few days near Hopkins. We didn't stay at Palmento Grove, but went by for dinner after some local folks told us we needed to check it out. First off, the food: it's amazing. They have an extensive menu, but they specialize in authentic Garifuna cultural food. The chef (Gayle, I believe) served us "Hu Dut", or red snapper stewed in coconut milk served with a side of mashed plantains. Absolutely delicious. Tasty sweet rolls, too. They have a full bar and serve Belikin beer and One Barrel Run to quench your thirst. The bar serves a local crowd and hosts music on the weekends, so it would be great if you want to take in some true Garifuna culture.
