This is an excellent hotel best for visiting Giverny. They offer discounted entry tickets. Some of the rooms have super views over the Seine basin as does the excellent restaurant. The food both for dinner and breakfast is not cheap but excellent quality. (37 euro for dinner set menu, 14.50 euro for breakfast.) The breakfast buffet has a huge choice.... more

I booked this hotel for a friends 60th birthday as part of a 60th birthday celebration taking in Monet's garden whioch is nearby. We had been to the hotel 9 years ago and had a wonderful time. The restaurant had been excellent and I had booked a table for dinner. When we arrived we were told the restaurant was fully... more

I was recommended to stay here by a friend, and didn't read any reviews beforehand. I mention this because a lot of the reviews on this site are now out of date, and I would not have booked if I had read them first!!! Luckily, I did go, and I did enjoy staying there (although we only stayed for one... more

Had panicked somewhat on reading some of your reviewers' comments but were very pleasantly surprised. Our room was in the annexe and was newly refurbished with a very comfortable bed, flat screen television and a newly decorated bathroom with modern fittings. Have had experience of 'postage stamp' towels in French hotels and so to find lovely large fluffy ones provided... more

Having read some of the previous reviews after booking at this hotel we were worried! However, we didn;t need to be. We had a great 4 night stay in a recently refurbished and decorated room in the 'Forrestiere' annex, just across the road from the main building. Our room was comfortable and very clean, the en suite bathroom spacious and... more

17th July 2007 Mature couple from Kent We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights. We were disappointed with our rooms, we had paid for a room upgrade (some upgrade). The rooms whilst they were in a new annexe, rather a renovated house, were small and still had problems regarding the showers which all flooded into the room making the... more

Booked through Brittany Ferries as part of a 10 day road tour through France. We spent the day at Giverny (Monet's Garden) and this is a convenient location for an overnight stop on the next part of our journey. The building has some history - it was once a home of King Leopold (of Belgium?). It is a little tricky... more

The hotel has a superb position on a hill overlooking a bend on the Seine river in open country and yet only about 30/40 miles from Paris and a shooting distance from Versailles. Excellent service from the staff; superb food cooked in the Nouvelle Cuisine fashion and presented artistically, strong flavours, lacking side salads, vegetables and no fresh fruit but... more

After reading these reviews, I felt I had to submit my own experience when I stayed there a couple of years ago. My partner and I, and the couple we were travelling with, stumbled across the hotel after a long day driving and were in desperate need of somewhere to stay. The actual castle itself was fully booked, so we... more

After a long hot journey from the south of France we were looking forward to staying at this hotel with views of the Seine. First appearances were that it looked tatty. Our room was on the top floor with good views but it was outdated and smelt strongly of damp. The ensuite looked in bad need of replacing. Dinner was... more
