Dungarvan is a nice town on the south coast from which you can visit Waterford, Cork and surrounding countryside very easily. Cairbre House is an exceptional place to stay and Brian, the owner, offers amazing hospitality. He went out of his way to ensure he made us at home. Lots of good advice about the area, his breakfasts are justifiably... More

We have stayed in Cairbre House several times, in fact we will now only stay in Cairbre House when in Dungarvan. The reception we received from Brian when we first arrived in this wonderful historic house made us feel so welcome its difficult to match anywhere. The house oozes character from the moment you walk in the front door. The... More

We consider ourselves lucky, often stumbling upon hidden treasures while on vacation, often when we least expect it. Cairbre House is another hidden treasure. A feel of what old Ireland should be like. The look and feel of the house just make you comfortable. And when you meet Brian, you realize that you have found a gem! His attention and... More

My wife and I are reasonably frequent visitors to Dungarvan where we have family. On 24th April due to certain circumstances we were unable to stay with the family. We phoned up and booked a room for that night in Cairbre House.Travelling past on that road over the years we often wondered what lay behind the stone wall.....then we found out... I have been to Cairbre house a number of times with men golf groups, so my focus, then, had been golf drinking and eating.!! I recognised it as a gem though and kept promising my wife that we would visit. 2013 gave us that opportunity as we were nearby in Rosslare for a week - we spent two nights at... More

If you are looking for an American type hostelry this aint for you. If you prefer to experience what Ireland was, and in certain areas still is, this is the place for you: turf fire, beautiful locale, engaging host and "full Irish" upon rising. Walk to Abbeyside and across the bridge to Dungarvan with its excellent museum and fine eateries

After being highly recommended by my grand-daughter, we enjoyed a fabulous stay in Cairbre house. Hospitality was second to none, the room was beautiful. Wonderful stay. Cannot say enough about it. Would recommend to anyone and look forward to going back.

We originally booked for one night, but so much liked the place that we stayed for two. The rooms are old fashioned and cosy and the beds very comfy. Brian is a very welcoming host and we also enjoyed a chat over a lovely breakfast with - I think - Katrina. Thanks for your warm hospitality.

Cairbre House is a lovely comfortable atmospheric home with a warm and capable host. Our room was comfortable (lovely comfortable beds with yummy heavy blankets) and had a good (free!) internet connection. The breakfast is suberb, large and varied; we both rose from the table each morning positively radiant with calories and cholesterol! My 10 year old son and I... More
