My aunt, husband & I spent 3 nights with the Nugents, and thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality, accommodations & food. All were wonderful. I made the mistake of getting directions off Google, which directed us onto the R672. We were completely lost, but were giving it one more shot, still having to stop to ask at a farmhouse if we were... More

Joan and her family could not have been more welcoming, helpful and friendly. There is a great family feel to the place. This is a quirky B&B. The house is a little old-fashioned, with lots of antiques, books, paintings and knicknacks. Our room had lovely views over the garden, but was small and so was the ensuite shower room. If... More

The Nugent family makes you one of them...from the moment they greet you at the door until you leave. This wonderful country house has all the amenities one could ask for and more. An added feature for us was to have one of the Nugent grandchildren as our guide to explore the garden and river area; don't miss walking the... More

My wife and I stayed her with our respective parents on our way to West Cork. We all loved this place - it really is as good as all the other reviews say. Big comfortable beds and a truly historic breakfast. You must try Joan's porridge and mixed fruits. PS A dog friendly establishment More

We are a family of 6 (4 children) and we loved Castle Country House. They received us with such warmth and really made us feel at home. The breakfast was UNBELIEVABLE!!! So fresh and good quality. We were in Ireland for 6 days and only slept in BB but this one was by far the best! We do recommend it... More

Joan was a "perfect" hostess; the rooms, beds and breakfast were outstanding. Please note that it is out in the countryside, and the shower stalls are a wee bit small. More

I found this little piece of heaven online and have never looked back, what a treasure to find, we have stayed here on numerous occasions. Joan, the lady of the house makes you feel like you are part of the family from the moment she opens the door, after a long trip from Dublin, climbing into one of her beautiful... More

What a wonderful stay we had with Joan and Emmett. We were made to feel so welcome, we wish we were able to stay much longer than one night. The house was fantastic, we had a great sleep in a very comfortable quiet room. Joans homemade applepie & coffee on arrival was very much appreciated. The breakfast was out of... More

My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of staying with Joan last week for 3 wonderful nights. We had travelled Ireland for two weeks staying in a variety of accommodation and thought we had experienced some good accommodation. However, none came any where near to the quality of both accommodation and the true Irish hospitality as we experienced with... More
