We stayed at Carters rest for a two night stay, just a few days ago. Maybe "experience" would be a more appropriate word, rather than "stay". All you can read in the previous reviews is totally confirmed: the location is stunning, with walks to heavenly places like Neist Point. We stayed 2 nights in September 2009. The rural setting is beautiful and relaxing. We had a comfortable room, thick and ample towels, changed daily! The walk to the water was a great way to stretch our legs following our journey from Inverness. Dinner was good as was breakfast. Carters rest is an excellent high quality guest house in a lovely, remote location. The hosts were very friendly. The evening meal was amazing, best chicken soup we've ever had. I have stayed in a number of B&Bs and hotels over the years, but I can honestly say that this is up there with the very best of them. The accommodation is clean, spacious and well designed. Betty and Fred were superb hosts. Absolutely nothing was to much trouble. The house is in a lovely location looking out to sea with a huge dining room with binoculars to watch the wildlife. We ate evening meals here too, and Fred's cooking was fantastic, we had 3 excellent courses, and my wife, who is vegetarian, was superbly catered for.... more
