No amount of elaborate decor makes up for a small bed with nylon-blend sheets, and the hefty price tag did not match the amateurish and inept service. The 'cheeky chappy' in the dining room should get a career in vaudeville and give up being a waiter; the receptionist who offered me a morning newspaper should not have a list of... more

I paid £80 for B&B and thought this was excellent value for money. The room was very modern and comfortable, and the bathroom was very clean and new looking. The bed was very comfy and the TV had freeview. The hotel offers free WiFi and they give you the log on details on your room card. To eat you can... more

We were offered the "executive" room for £100 for the night. But the room hadn't been vacuumed, the sink had a very old crack in it, and we only had one towel (which we didn't notice until after showering!) They advertise free wifi but the access code is not given in the room info. When asked for earl grey tea... more

I came back to my hometown to visit family and my parents suggested staying in the Bear Hotel. My memories of a school boy drinking in the grill bar came flooding back. The hotel exceeded all expectations. The staff were friendly, smart and attentive to our needs. The bar (newly refurbished) had a very pleasant atmosphere and If i lived... more

Stayed at this hotel after recommendation from friends who has stayed there. It lived up to all its expectations and more, offering good value for money, situated in the heart of Crickhowell. The staff were very friendly, professional and helpful and very accommodating to our needs. Don't forget to have breakfast here, as it is one of the best breakfasts... more

Stayed at the Bear overnight while attending a function there. Having booked a family room and paid an extra £50 for the privilege we were very disappointed to find the room was simply a standard double room with one extra bed and a camp bed crammed in. Not ideal for a family of four. Thank goodness it was only one... more

We stayed for two nights over a weekend in the Bear's Flat 2, a little along the road from the hotel. The space was a good size, with high ceilings, a well appointed kitchen, bright and airy bathroom, (fantastic power shower, no bath), lounge with flat screen TV and two double bedrooms. The decor was modern with a contemporary feel,... more

We endured a truely awful Sunday lunch at the Hotel. We arrived to an empty resturant and immdeiately ordered food for a small child. We then had to wait 25 mins to order our food. After 50 mins when the childrens food hadn't arrived we asked the waitress to see what was happening. We were then given one of the children's... more

Stayed here for one night on business recently. (Paid £70 for single occupancy of a double room.) Check-in was smooth and friendly; room allocated (28) had just been refurbished to a high standard- very comfortable and chic with good quality furniture and fittings. We decided to take advantage of the good weather and eat from the bar menu on one... more

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst on business locally. The room initially allocated to me was simply horrid, a double room, in the main old part of the hotel, dark & dingy and right above the bar area where the football commentary beamed out! not a good start, so i went back down to reception and asked for another room.... more
