I paid less than $60 for a night just for the next day trip to Calakmul. I agree it's not a resort and lacks services as others mentioned. But comparing what you pay at Chicanna Ecovillage, it's not really a bad choice if you want to spend a night in Xpujil. Wi-fi is only available in the lobby and you... More

We stayed at this hotel on a roadtrip through the Yucatan to see ruins. We had intended to stay at the Chicanna Ecovillage, but when we saw this hotel along the highway, we stopped. A mistake! By the end of our stay we were laughing because we felt NO hotel could honestly be this bad. The lobby is huge and... More

We were a large group with advance reservations, booked to stay two nights. Our experience the first night was so bad that we left the next morning. When our group tried to eat in the restaurant the service was so bad that some received food after 45 minutes, some after 1:30 hours and some after 2 hours. Others never got... More

Although this hotel is conveniently located central to most Rio Bec archeological sites, particularly Calakmul, do not stay here. I have traveled trhoughout the entire Yucatan and have never had a more disappointing hotel experience. Never. The staff are utterly indifferent. I suspect the hotel is a front for another 'business'. My group was booked for two nights, only stayed... More

Our group recently stayed three nights at this lovely hotel near the town of Xpujil in the Yucatan jungle, the middle of no where. We also took all our meals there. Given the remote location, we have nothing but good things to report. The rooms were spotlessly clean and roomy. We had plenty of hot water. The air conditioning worked... More

We stayed here in January. The pool was open and clean. The hotel is actually several large buildings clustered around a large courtyard where the pool, b-ball courts, gazebo, etc. The room was basic and very clean. The water was hot. When returning from a long hot day of touring the surrounding Mayan ruins, it was nice to relax in... More

Stayed at this hotel for one night in November 2007 - to visit the ruins at Calakmul (note that the hotel is almost 60km from the turning for Calakmul). The hotel appears OK in daylight, although it does feel isolated. Didn't feel very safe at night, as other reviewers have pointed out it does feel a bit like something out... More

i stayed 2 nights while exploring the area. first night, i was the only guest and it was a little creepy after midnite when they shut down all outdoor lights on the property... its in the middle of no where and on dark nites you cant see past your nose. the second nite a tour bus with a bunch of... Well, Shining hotel, let's say, because we were the only guests for one night in a big hotel, big room, without any telephone (mobile network unavailable as well), and a little dog near our room door. There were also an empty swimming pool. Otherwise, the room was clean, with air conditioning, the hosts were friendly (only three people) and very... More
