If you have any sense for British history and you visit S.A. a stay at this hotel is mandatory. The Hotel situation is superb, set halfway up a bluff overlooking the Isandlwana battlefieds. All rooms have large balconies which overlook the vast plains where the action took place and from where you can observe modern day rural life in the... more

We stopped here on the 28th and 29th of June, the weather in the day for us Brits was warm in the morning and at night quite cold although the wood fires in the lodge added to the ambience. It literally looks over the battlefield with Zulu villages below. I wanted to roll our waitress up and take her with... more

We spent a wonderful 4 days at the Lodge and can highly recommend it. The lodge itself is of a high quality and well deserved of it's world-class 5 star rating. The service and food on offer is faultless. Our room overlooked the Battlefields and the only sounds to break the silence was that of the birds. The evening entertainment... more

What a place, stunning views over the valley and the site of a great battle. All rooms have a balcony with the most beautiful view where you can watch the zulu dawn. The service is excellent, friendly and personal, the food outstanding, our stay was perfect. more

Isandlwana Lodge is a magical place with the most wonderful staff providing excellent food and service. The rooms are luxurious, light and airy and the view from the balcony is outstanding. On our second evening it was a little chilly so the log fire burned in the bar and when we got back to our room there were hot water... more

This Lodge is set in the rocks overlooking the battle field of Isandlwana (where the British suffered an enormous defeat at the hands of the Zulus). It has views stretching for at least 50 miles and is extremelty well designed and fits beautilfully into the landscape. It was built by two American women - one of whom lives there miost... more

We stayed at Isandlwana Lodge for two nights, but would have happily stayed longer. The setting, overlooking the site of the Isandlwana battle is awesome, with a stark, haunting beauty. The lodge itself is sympathetically and attractively built into the landscape, making the most of the vistas with large floor to ceiling windows and terracing outside. Our room, one of... more

The hotel occupies a stunning hillside location overlooking the battlefield and includes, as standard, lecture visits to both the Isandlwana battlefield (where the Zulus defeated the British on 22 January 1879) and Rorke’s Drift (immortalised in the film ‘Zulu’). This is an excellent hotel with very attentive staff and good food (a pity, though that dinner is, for no particular... more
