Our budget could not stretch to the £100 each per night minimum so we chose to stay in the Seafest by the waterfront. This hotel is located right on the seafront away from the unpleasant town centre. The room I had was quite big, it had air-con and the wifi just about worked. Simply the best in town - all others are shabby by comparison. Bagged a room for RM 99 which was an absolute bargain for nice large room with carpet, AC, cable tv including UK football, nice bathroom etc. Restaurant does nice food but if you want a beer you have to goto drinking bars next door. Thin hotel wa s agreta stop over at semprna before island hopping like we did for 10 days. No need to critic the hotel as already done by others. I second that the hotel is great value and no regrets later. When you are there, remember to visit the hotel's adjoining outdoor restaurant in late afternoon to savoud the bbq chicken wings, fresh squid and fresh prawns is mouth-watering. Stayed here for one night on our way to Kapalai. Booking through internet was easy, and the reception upon arrival was welcoming (after 30 hours of travelling, that counts...). Stayed at Seafest Hotel for 1 night on my way to Mabul and appreciated the welcoming atmosphere there. Even the standard rooms are spacious and clean - was surprised by that when they charged me only RM 99 on a walk basis.
