My husband and I just spent a night at the Hotel am Rathausplatz in Rust, Austria and were extremely pleased both with the accommodations and breakfast at the hotel and with the dinner at its restaurant. The hotel is very clean, quiet, and cheerfully decorated. The same can be said for the restaurant. We both ordered zander - crisply fried fish coated lightly in garlic and crumbs - which came with a mixed salad and parsley potatoes. We started with a pumpkin soup appetizer. Everything was fresh and well-seasoned. The strudels were quite good also. The breakfast buffet, which was included in the 84 euro price for our double, was extraordinary. There was a particularly broad selection of local cheeses and warm breads, along with 3 flavors of yogurt, many dried fruits, meats and spreads. The location is very convenient for touring the wine tasting establishments in town. October is a quiet season for this area, which in the summer draws more active tourists.
