This hotel is fairly close to Carpentras France and was intriguing due to its history as a former home of the Marquis de Sade's family. The hotel should play up this angle more and showcase its history. The common areas are full of great antique furniture, but the floors and ceilings need some work. The rooms could use refreshing as... more

I've been taking groups to the Chateau de Mazan since 2006 as part of our cycling tours. Spyns former clients have always raved about it. Most recently, we had a large group there in July 2009 as part of our Tour de France tours to bike Mt Ventoux (just a few miles from the hotel). The reception staff, restaurant staff,... more

The hotel is very good, but its staff make it excellent. They are both friendly and discreet and really enhanced our stay in the chateau which is oozing Provencal character. Our room was a "charme" (basic) category and for a 4 night stay was perfectly adequate. It was clean. The ensuite had a very effective shower and the bed was... more

My husband and I stayed in what was described as a garden patio room, which actually is a rather unpleasant basement unit small, dark and one chair. This supposed 4 star room had a joke of a shower, a space between the wall and sink of less than 2 feet with no curtain--certainly not 4 star in any way. Believe... more

Having enjoyed a stay at the chateau some years ago we decided to visit again and were not disappointed. The chateau is a beautiful building and a lot of thought and care has been given to furnishing and decorating it in an individual and delightful manner. Lots of plants add to the ambience in the main areas while the rooms... more

Booked 2 nights here as part of a foodie week in France. Realised that the restaurant was closed Monday night but booked dinner for Tuesday. Then a few days before we arrived they announced that Tuesday would also be closed but would reccommend local restaurants. Monday was a bit disastrous- no local restaurants open (Mazan is a tiny place) except... more

Stayed one night on the way to the South. Comfortable, well appointed room in a hotel with a good atmosphere. Dinner was excellent with a good wine list and helpful, knowlegable advice form the staff as to what local wine to choose. Beautifully cooked fish and delicious pudding. Dinner was slightly marred by a large group of American cyclists eating... more

The Chef de reception may need to rethink her Meet and Growl techniques!!! she had been lying in wait for us all afternoon and pounced on us on arrival! why?? we had inadvertently doubly booked, first by sending a booking form the evening before to their own site, then using bookings.com to secure the room for us we . What had planned... more

This beautiful chateau is located in the village of Mazan, a friendly and charming little place to stay. (be sure to visit the local Pizzeria) I traveled with 2 other people and all 3 of us agree that this hotel offered a true French countryside experience. The building is divine, we enjoyed the outdoor patio area and sat out there... more

stayed here twice whilst looking for property in the area and have dined here several times since. Accommodation is charming, service is delightfully attentive and friendly and food rivals some of the Michelin starred retaurants If you're lucky enough to be in the area on a Friday morning go to the market in nearby Carpentras more
