Staying in this castle (on two occassions) was a highlight of the trip. We loved the fact that the owners have stayed as true to the original design as practical. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the owners friendly and breakfasts great. This will always be a stop on our trips to Ireland. more
Tucked away from the more touristy areas, Kilbrittain Castle provides its guests with a true feel for Irish life and hospitality. The owners are warm, friendly and very knowledgeable about their home and the surrounding area. Ask about nearby Drumbeg Stone Circle (and then go see it for yourself). This is a unique experience! It is the oldest inhabited castle in Ireland, I've been told, & the couple that own & rent rooms are very knowlegable. Climb the narrow winding staircase to the 2nd or 3rd floors, know that your bathroom is in a turret! the rooms are huge! but have no locks on the doors, which gave me... more
