We came to Portmagee in hunt for our boat captain and a great breakfast. The Moorings was not only the only place open for miles and miles,,, but Alice went above and beyond. Fast service and good food is not the reason I decided to write the review, though that was true. We were searching for our captain and our... More

Keen to share the delights of the Ring of Kerry and the Skellig Ring, we randomly chose the Moorings. It was a real find, delightful hotel, good breakfasts and plenty of it, and we ate in the restaurant every evening.

We arrived in Portmagee after driving part of the Ring of Kerry on a beautiful sunny (cold) day. The lady in reception was so kind, welcoming and efficient. Once we dropped our bags at the room we took a drive over to Valenica Island! WOW!! We had visited the Cliffs of Moher earlier in the week, but I have to... More

On Good Friday we travelled for a scuba diving weekend in Portmagee. We arrived in sunshine to this beautiful port town with the fresh salt sea air cleared the cobwebs of winter. We travelled as a family of five- two adults, one teenager, one energetic four year old and one 19 month old. We stayed at the gorgeous moorings in... More

Half way around the Ring of Kerry, with great views of the harbour and Valentia Island, which is worth spending a whole day on - great walks and views. We would have liked to take the boat trip to the Skerries but got to the visitor's centre just too late.

Have now had two expériences of Portmagee hospitality, once on site and once in associated self-catering house. Whichever option you choose, this award-winner mérits thé many plaudits it has received. Good food, great atmosphere, superior service, à decent réal ale option would make it perfect but quality porter is no hardship. Prices à bit painful but that's the Republic for... More

I cant even begin to explain how great this place was. It was spotless you could have your dinner in the toilet with no concerns. The food was outstanding. But the staff were even better. We visited the whole island of Valentia and loved every minute. Came back to a fab dinner and a room so comfertable . jacussi bath... More

One doesn't have a wealth of accommodation options in Portmagee, and this is regarded as the pick of them. The room was comfortable, the staff were friendly, and the location was perfect. However, the breakfast was substandard, which was disappointing, as dinner the night before in the restaurant was delicious, and the guesthouse itself is a little bit pricey. Overall... More

Not many choices in the small fishing village, but this is a great one. Friendly staff, great rooms and everything you need is right here. Can't wait to make a return visit. The locals dance and play traditional music a couple if nights a week, makes for a great experience.
