We stayed the night here, and had dinner too. The reception was very friendly and welcoming, the room was approached by a series of long oak-panelled corridors, and was warm and comfortable. We contemplated the menu over a pint of excellent local real ale, and there was a good choice on the menu. We all opted for the day's special,... more

My wife and I have had numerous meals in the Seven Stars over the past few years, and have always experienced a very warm welcome, excellent service, the menu choices have been interesting, the quality of food superb, and the experience memorable. more

Seven Stars Inn is situated in a lovely village just outside Durham centre. The Inn is a traditional English guest house offering a restaurant and bar. The bar was ideal however due to the owners not being able to secure it at night time there is a 12 o'clock curfew for all guests, this was a bit dissapointing as it... more

If you are looking for a boutique hotel, then this not for you. However, if you want an old fashioned, traditional pub, with well kept beer and a warm welcome, then you will be very pleased with the Seven Stars Inn. We arrived just before last orders, after a horrendous seven hour trip, and were immediately made to feel welcome,... more

The inn is situated in a small village about two miles (and a delightful walk) from the centre of Durham. Our room was very small and the decor was very dull Welcome was somewhat forced and staff seemed to be very tired. A pleasant evening meal was marred by an awful dessert. Breakfast was excellent. more

I have been eating at the 7 Stars for almost 10 years, and have seen several changes of management. After a very good period, the restaurant went into a serious decline until Ken and Noreen took it over. I have seen the cuisine going up and up..and as I have lived in France for 40 years I know what I'm... more

The exterior décor of the pub needs refreshing. We had a room at the end of a very dark-wood panelled 3-foot wide corridor that strongly smelt of the previous day's roast lamb (I think) - this pervaded the room under the gap at the bottom of the door and the room stank all night - even the next morning the... more

My wife and I have been to the UK 3 times and this was not only my favorite place to stay, but my favorite place in the world to have a drink. If an American asked me where to go to have that English Inn experience that Americans imagine, I'd recommend the Seven Stars. This cozy inn with a restaurant... more

I travelled to Durham on business and needed overnight accommodation. I had never been to Durham before and I was told it was a very beautiful place, I was not disappointed. I stayed at the Seven Stars Inn and from the minute I arrived they were very frindly and helpful and made my stay very enjoyable, in fact I didn't... more

I've been using the Seven Stars regularly on business visits to the north east for nearly six years now and will keep returning to the warm welcome, relaxed atmosphere and good food and beer. Ken and Noreen have lifted the pub substantially since taking over a while back without losing any of its 'local' essence. Bar and dining staff are... more
