It's a shame a previous reviewer had such a poor experience recently. Laskill Grange is run by Sue, a delightful welcoming hostess, whilst her daughter, Mandy runs Laskill Country House, a hundred yards away up the hill with wonderful enthusiasm and charm. I stayed here with my cousin for 2 nights. When we arrived we found an envelope with instructions where to find the key and which was our room in the farmhouse. Our stay didn't start well when we arrived to discover that the girl, with limited english, covering reception had no record of our booking. She pointed us up the hill to Laskill House where things got better and we were given the pick of the rooms because of the mistake with our booking. Stunning location, just north of Helmsley, with good access to the N.Y. Moors, the Coast & the city of York is only a short drive away. Warm welcome and a cosy and friendly atmosphere. Everything you could want in this stunning part of the country. Will definately be back again. more
