Recently renovated £1.4 million with new owners. Stayed overnight ready for Top Gear show the following day. Friendly staff, great food, comfortable and clean throughout. Ideally situated in pleasent village location and ideal if your going to the Top Gear studio, only 20 mins away. more

We stayed at the Royal Hotel last weekend, as we had been invited to a friends birthday celebration at the Bel & Dragon restaurant close by. I was hesitant following the reviews on this site, and indeed the renovation work is still ongoing in parts of the hotel. The decor is not to my personal taste, but it is suitable... more

The hotel is currently undergoing substantial refurbishment. I stayed here with a colleague and we both stayed in newly decorated and furnished superior rooms - beautifully styled and redecorated, but the hairdryer in my bathroom did not work. There was also no telephone for me to contact reception about the noise from the room below, from around 7pm to 11pm,... more
