We stayed in May as we were visiting the area for a friend's 50th. Although we were booked in for two nights we made our escuses and left after one. The dogs throwing themselves at the front door of the empty house and barking ferociously as we arrived should have been a warning. As cat lovers ourselves we found the... more

The greeting in the room highlights that Ash House is firstly a family home. Returning late at night to see one of their cats sleeping on the kitchen work surface it would perhaps be better if it stayed just a family home. more

Enjoyed our short stay at ash house,we came up for a concert at the picturedrome. The accom is a on the main road, but zero noise from cars, its very homely, and much more fun than say a Holiday Inn and great that these places still are around.Owners were welcoming and helpful.Beds great, views great, breakfast was one of the best i have ever had,and... more

Ash House provides spacious and very comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented. Our hosts, Richard and Lorretta made us feel extremely welcome - nothing was too much trouble. The classic car hire that was part of our package was easy to arrange and we couldn't help being drawn in by Richard's obvious enthusiasm. more

My wife and I spent 3 nights here and 2 days with Richards 1960's Rover 100. He picked us up from Huddersfield station and his friend John dropped us off there at the end of a very nice short break. His cars which include a Jaguar E type, Jaguar Mk 2 3.4, Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and Saab 95 V4 plus... more

Hints of Fawlty Towers but without the humour. Unable to access property for 1 hour despite scheduled 4pm arrival. Spacious, private but dingy room, no view of note. Tiny en suite....shower not working on arrival and stayed that way for the two days of our stay this resulted in trekking through the house for a wash. Smell of cat food... more

I must say we consider the tone of this review to be rather rude and its content somewhat inaccurate. We apologised for returning late that afternoon but no specific guest arrival time had been noted. The reviewer omits to mention they had exclusive use of three rooms including a private lounge which is 23' x 14' and has views of...

Ash House is a super B&B on the edge of Holmfirth, the town famous for being the setting for BBC TV's Last of the Summer Wine. The excellent hosts are Richard and Loretta. Ash House is a former millowner's house and boasts England's oldest outdoor heated swimming pool. Don't pack your swimming costume because it's now an attractive garden pond!... more
