We found Vila da Praia on a website and took a chance on booking an apartment there. We were absolutely delighted. The apartments are modern and really well equipped and in a fantastic location in Alvor. We were only a 5 minute walk in one direction to the harbour and town centre and 5 minute walk in the other direction to the beach.

The apartment complex was very quiet – some days there were only ourselves and two other couples sunbathing round the pool. Not the usual battle for sunbeds that can take place! The only slight criticism I would have had is there was not a bar/snack bar on the complex. That said, we only had to cross over the road and there was plenty of choice at the Dunas Apartments. There were a number of snack bars in the courtyards by their swimming pool – our favourite being the Cactos Bar. The staff there were so friendly that we usually popped in for lunch and a drink (€1 a pint happy hour!) but, more importantly, it was by far our favourite place... more
