This has to be the Fawlty Towers of Alvor. It claims to be self catering, but there was no plug in kettle, no bread knife, no sharp knife, no can opener, no teapot, no draining rack, no potato peeler, no scissors, in fact, virtually no cooking equipment. This hotel is not too far from the main village of Alvor and is brilliant if you want peace and quiet, which we did. There was a courtesy bus every day except Sunday, which ran at frequent intervals. Only cost 3 euros in a taxi, and the walk wasn't too bad. Towels and room were cleaned daily. Staff were friendly.... more

We booked for this hotel in December 2008 to arrive 01/04/2009. The hotel was closed. We were left in Portugal with no accommodation. On reading reviews this has happened before! So why are companies still booking people into a closed hotel. They had plenty of time to let us know that it was not open!!! more
