Small clean basic hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful, food great. Don't speak any Catalonian or Spanish and this was not a problem. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Mataro is a very nice town. Good travel links into Barcelona. more

we recently stayed at the Hotel Colon for four days and had a wonderful time. The hotel is very comfortable and central - overlooking the Cathedral. Stayed for 3 days in February 2006, single room, cost euro 180 in total. Average service, continental breakfast included. bad location if you don't speak spanish, visited several restaurants and shops and ended up eating horrible pizza from pizza hut, nobody speaks english or attempted to be helpful, no english menu.
