We stayed at several Paradors along the Camino de Santiago. This, like the others, had stunning public areas, and somewhat monastic private bedrooms. Some of the rooms are named for the former abbots. Our room looked out over the town, and the castle tower, and the forecourt of the parador. It was a great view. The rooms surrounded the old... Miles from anywhere (we drove 400kms from Oviedo) this landmark hotel was superb in every way - with the exception, perhaps, of finding it first time! No doubt lots has been written about the Parado organization and we chose Monforte based on Trip Advisor reports. This beautifully converted monastery sits on top of the only hill for miles. Arrival late... More

This was our first parador stay, and all went nicely. very historic, friendly staff for sure, helpful and accomodating. walk to town down hill, good little town to explore. walk along the river is good. good place to stay, full breakfast was included with our rate.

We stayed here as part of a 3 week road trip around Spain and Portugal and this was our first ever stay in a Parador hotel. Firstly, the building itself was simply incredible, the view of the surrounding landscape from it's elevated position was simply stunning - especially in the morning when the town below was lost in a heavy... If you have never stayed in a Parador you should certainly consider it. This example is one of the best. The 17th Century building is built on the site of a 9th Century Monastery. The building towers above the MUCH less interesting town atop a considerable hill it can be seen from miles around certainly from the nearby N 120.... More

Like other reviewers, we found the building quite beautiful and it was a joy to stay in it for two nights. The town is a little so-so but the surrounding countryside, particularly the sacred wine route, is truly breath-taking. We took the boat trip along the Sil river through "fiords" that compete with Norway's for scale and grandeur. Dinner at... More

Although aware of the reputation of Paradors, we chose this one from the foto. It's lovely, set at the top of the small town with views for ever, and very good food. The staff were friendly, the place was clean and felt as I imagine a top country house would, beautifully furnished but with very little sign of other guests... More

We loved this beautiful parador on a hill overlooking the countryside - excellent service, great cooking and very quiet. The town below is a bit disappointing but the hotel can arrange side trips further afield. We only stayed one night but wished we had stayed another

This was our last stop on a short tour of various Paradors and proved my favourite. A view shared by friends who had done a longer tour. We arrived earlier than others in the party and from the moment of arrival the service was exceptionally helpful and friendly. After a longish journey and a short walk we enjoyed an excellent... We booked into this hotel with a delightful young lady and were given a room with a views which was great. The room was clean but not spotless like we had become accustom to in all the other places we had stayed in Portugal and Spain. There did not seem to any other staff in the hotel as we went... More
