We stayed at an attic flat at Ribera Beach, in a town (but really just an urbanisation) called Mar de Cristal on the Mar Menor in Murcia, Southern Spain.
The flats are new and well-equipped and the Mar Menor is great for children. It's basically a huge lagoon, so the water is warm, shallow and very salty, making it perfect for small children and practicing watersports. It is also jellyfish free (they spent a lot of money to clean it up), which is a big plus in this area!
We particularly enjoyed the range of activities available, watersports- sailing, windsurfing and kayaking at Aqua Adicta down at the beach. Also horseriding at Rancho de la Fuente in the next town, Los Belones. We are not golfers, but the nearly La Manga club is a paradise for those who like that sport.
The beach was very quiet in September and we enjoyed meals at various restaurants and beach bars in this town and nearby Cabo de Palos.
