We stayed there with a group of 13 bikers in May 2011. We had a pleasant stay and were helped by lovely people. We came late and were in hurry to get dinner, so they managed a table in the hotel restaurant for us, while showering. The rooms were clean and cosy. Next visit to Scotland we will come again.... On arrival we were met by a pleasant lady who showed us up to our room, a clean room with a small ensuite and some very dated decor. The bed was comfortable and the room had all the expected basics. Breakfast in the morning was a disappointment, with prunes and grapefruit, poor cereal choices (Alpen and Branflakes) and a small... More

It never fails to amaze me that the persons with a negative review choose to do so in writing rather than discuss their issues during their stay. But as a member of the older generation perhaps I expect to much from some of the immature population In regard to this review I would make the following comments. Breakfast consists of... More

A lovely guesthouse at ease within a glorious setting.Good sized rooms which are clean, well presented and equipped, and would sit comfortably at the top end of its three star rating. Our hosts were welcoming, and responsive to our changed needs due to recent surgery.Having looked at previous disparaging reviews,l can only suggest that a grounded connection with price and aspiration was somewhat lacking... WONDERFUL B& B Travelling from Australia, stayed here for the second time. Again Roy and Margaret are very welcoming hosts, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are large, very comfortable, clean and cosy. The breakfast is excellent. They are very knowledgeable about the local area, and suggested a couple of attractions to visit which we thoroughly enjoyed. We would highly... More

The Scottish Tourist Board's three-start rating for B&B's talks about attention to detail. Definitely not the case here. Problems with cleanliness. Ageing mattress and decor. And not welcoming.

I would never stay here again. On arrival, we were escorted to our room which did not smell pleasant at all. The owner did not appear to notice this. When I went to use the ensuite toilet, it became apparent the reason for this smell. The toilet had been used and not cleaned (or flushed!!!) which almost made me vomit.... More

Thirty minutes after arrival and on their way out for the evening the guests advised us that there was dirty water in the toilet pan. On inspection we found that the dirty water was coming from the cistern. Our only explaination is that the dirty water was due to a high concentration of chemicals from a disinfectant block. This being... More

Roy and Margaret are fantastic hosts, they make you feel like part of the family, nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast is especially good, as you choose what you would like and it is cooked personally for you, and a fantastic choice. They are very knowledgeable about the area, and will suggest day trips, and help you organise them.... More

We were knocked out by the gorgeous view over the mountains and surrounding farmland (ask for room 4 if it's available) The owners were friendly, welcoming and very accommodating. We tried Mr King's wonderful full Scottish Breakfast and then had to walk it off with a long stroll around the adjacent golf course. Didn't bother with lunch that day! Relaxing... More

I also stayed in the B&B that DOES try and advertise itself as a hotel. If the decor was supposed to be in keeping with a Victirian Mansion House it must have spent some time in a tardis. I may well have stayed in the same room as the other reviewer. The shower door worked fine.... and I was glad... More

Another glorious week spent at Alvey House in the middle of the glorious Highlands. As a young family (3 year old and 6 year old) we have been back to Alvey again and again.
