This was my third and very enjoyable stay at the Battlefields Country Lodge for 1 night. After my guests (from the UK) and I visit Talana museum in Dundee and Blood River Monument we ended our day at the Country Lodge, with a beautiful garden and open space with a huge variaty of animals in a very close distance watching... With our room over looking the fields with the zebra, ostrich, springbok and blesbok roaming, it was a good time waster watching them. With not much else to do in the vicinity, we visited with a tour group and were pleasantly surprised at the comfortable, well equipped rooms. The bar staff at the restaurant were fantastic and lovely young guys... More

Have you ever stayed in a silo. Here`s your chance. This is atypical lodge in the middle of now where. The rooms are clean. The Buffet style meals are very good. The payment hatch at the bar is where it all goes wrong. Clients just never get the hang of this. Good selection of wine. Property is very well laid... More

Due there for three days. Room had no electricity but despite 3 complete no responce from indifferent staff. We had to insist on a move after an overnight and a day without electricity and had to move our own luggage. New room clearly not recently used as full of large insects. Urgh! Food not particularly good and general air of... More

A comfortable, clean hotel with rooms in blocks overlooking open fields with ostrich, zebra and antelope roaming. Our room had its own kitchen area which was well equipped (although not used apart from the kettle !). The restaurant is in a separate building and is functional rather than cosy. However the food was very good. The pool was OK but not special.

Stayed here recently while on a tour of South Africa with riviera travel. The hotel is comfortable and clean and has a small oven and fridge in the room, the view is fantastic - open fields with ostrich, springbok and zebra. Dining room is strange but actually works well everything comes from and is paid for through a hole in... More

Appropriately named. Good base whilst visiting the battle fields. We spend three nights in a silo. These are obviously the original accommodation units. Comfortable, but are in need of updating. New block looked very good, and a further one is under construction. We arrived at lunch time on a Sunday, and there was no food available. We had to drive... More

Stayed here recently while on a tour of South Africa with riviera travel. Comfortable and clean hotel with wonderful far reaching views complete with ostrich, springbok and zebra. Dining room set up for groups rather than intimate dining but buffet very good. Would recommend as close to Zulu battlefields.

Been to Battlefields many times, only because it is so well placed for the battlefields. We have watched it grow from small beginnings. Now a large complex and expanding in a great setting, the new sections are of a high standard and don't mix with the older sections, so it becomes a lottery as to the value for money you... More
