Very nice hotel right on the beach in the centre of Unawatuna. Rooms are spacious, clean and beautifully furnished. Food is fresh and tasty and very reasonably priced. This is our favourite place since many years ! more

I have visited Sri Lanka circa 14 times since 2003 and spent much of my time at Thaproban. The events of 26 December 2004 changed the lives for ever of all those who witnessed the tsunami. Thaproban was badly damaged, but repaired and reopened in less than 2 months, by the time I returned in Feb 05. A testiment to... more

This is a very comfortable, contemporary hotel right on the shoreline - I say shoreline and not beach, because there is practically no beach left in Unawatuna anymore - very sad - head to Hikkaduwa to the north or Mirissa to the south is you want a real beach. It feels like a boutique hotel and the rooms are large... more

We are very pleased to hear that the guests enjoyed their stay at Thaproban Beach House. We hope they will visit us again. About the beach in Unawatuna, since its May and June, off season ( Monsoon time in Sri Lanka ) the sea gets rough and the beach area reduces however once the sea calms down in the normal...

Having stayed in Thaproban several years ago I wanted to try it again after the redecorations. And was realy sorry for it. The rooms are now expensive compared to other hotells, and already dirty. The newer staff is not friendly. There is no beach aerea annymore. And the once nice restaurant was a total let down. Horrible service. overpriced foods,... more

The best place to stay in Unawatuna is Thaproban beach house if you are looking for a relaxed holiday with luxury of being by the beach. I loved my room and the beach side restaurant which served tasty dishes from local to western dishes. I stayed in one of the Penthouse suites and its great value for money, Even though... more

It was not too busy, which suited us well and we were made to feel like we had the whole place to ourselves, Whole of Unawatuna was very quiet as May was Off season so we were offered a discounted rate as well. Our... more

"I thought Thaproban Beach House was a fantastic hotel with wonderful staff who were always there to help. The candlelit dinner on the beach was an experience we will always treasure. To add to it the fresh sea food turned out to be really good. The room views were amazing! My room had direct sea view which was just meters... more

I stayed at Thaproban beach house for my last holiday in Sri Lanka as it was recommended by one of my friends and everything I was told came true! The hotel, rooms, staff and food was everything I expected. The hotel is close to the bay of Unawatuna which is one of the best beaches in the world, the room... more

This is our second visit to Thaproban and it just gets better and better. We had a 9 day stay in March and brought two friends with us this time. The hotel is newly refurbished with in-room fridges, internal telephones, LCD TV and air conditioning which we didnt have in our last trips. The quality and care of the service... more
