Found this property on the internet and decided to give them a call from Alajuela before we headed that direction. The owner doesn't speak English, so if you have a Spanish speaker at your disposal, that is helpful. With my rudimentary Spanish skills, I managed to book a room for a couple of nights.

The rooms are spartan, but spotless and secure. Hot water showers from a real water heater, not "suicide" showers. The owner was very friendly and helpful and, if my language skills were stronger, probably would have been moreso.

I will definately stay there if I visit Santa Elena again!
