The site looked lovely as we drove up to it, but the reception and communal areas (bar etc.) had a very "service station-esque" feel to them- so we weren't surprised to discover that they had, in fact, started life as a service station! Good accomodation, nice onsite restaurant, pretty, clean, good for watersports and swimming pool. Forget sitting outside for a glass of wine on your lodge as site is surrounded by two motorways. Good for local walking, however to far from the Lake District for serious hikers. However, we went with two toddlers and it was pretty awful. The Lakes is directly... more

Did not know what to expect from this resort, as had never been to Carnforth before. The purpose of our trip was to se the Lake District, and this location was ideally placed, without paying Lake District prices.
