We tried to book a hotel in ambleside and found this one - the address sent on the confirmation was ambleside, market street, promising WI-FI and a 3-Star Service. This Place is about 1 hr from Ambleside. There is no reception, you receive your key in a bar. The furniture in the rooms is sticky - we didn't expect too much but at least a clean and safe room. At least the beds looked clean - on first sight. The wallpaper was hanging from the walls at the window, there was a hole in the sofa and when entering the bathroom a tile fell into the bathtub. A second one was hanging loose and when touching the other tiles they were loose, too. We went back downstairs and the barkeeper who gave us the keys told us he is not responsible ... we didn't give up and finally he told us he had called the owner of the hotel - who didn't want to be disturbed and that they could not offer another room to us. Very, very disappointing.
