Called in at the White Lion for a bite to eat on a cold April evening to find a lovely blazing fire and a selection of real ales. A proper pub! Just what was needed, and it got better- you could order a locally made pie (from Beamans the butchers just over the road) and a decent pint for the... More

I'd read the Previous reviews of this PUB and thought I'd check it out for myself. It's a very old building (that dates from 1640) so the rooms ARE small. It's not a hotel or B&B (they don't do breakfast). Our room #1 was big enough to fit a double bed, a small tv, two bedside tables, a kettle, cups,... More

Bitingly cold outside when we spotted this little haven. Roaring fire was welcome as were the beer paddles and scotch eggs Fabulous on all counts! 6 x 1/3pt of some stunningly good ales and a home made scotch egg that was simply delightful

If you want a real old-fashioned English pub atmosphere with friendly staff and top-class beers, this is for you. It not posh or smart, it's warm and comfortable and a bit worn like your gran's living room. We tried a few pubs in Bridgnorth after a great ride on the Severn Valley railway and this one is worth heading for.... More

Thats about it, except the boiler in my room kicked in at regular intervals and kept me awake.

Stayed in Bridgenorth and visited this pub on two nights. Very good choice of local brewed ales and good prices very nice bar staff who made you welcome. Only downside were some gents on second visit who seemed to lack many words other than swear ones. I wondered whether if their Mothers had been sitting next to them whether they... More

Good Beer, great pub atmosphere. My bedroom though was antiquated, and had a central heating boiler in the room ( is this allowed ? ). The room suffered noise, into the early hours, from the pub customers in the courtyard, who were not overly roudy but the noise carried & echoed. Even at the low price for the room, I... More

Yes it is allowed as it is boxed in, secure and has a Gas Safety Certificate. We do advertise all of our rooms as small (we are a pub, not the Ritz) and room 3 can be noisy as it overlooks the courtyard. More

Room is tiny like you couldnt swing a squirrel. Bed is so hard! May of been more comfortable on the floor but not enough room to actually lie on it! Staff were weird and made you feel quite uncomfortable. Walls were made of paper. Felt like the snorer next door was in our room. All in all, brilliant stay....NOT never... More

Interestingly after staying in July 2010 it took this reviewer until June 2011 to post a review. If I remember rightly the guest in question was horrible too. I may start a web site reviewing guests! Now that would be interesting. More
