I booked a single room which turned out to be a private twin. Nice sized rooms although the beds were a bit soft for my liking. Room also had a good sized storage area and space to hang things up. I stayed in a quad room that had 4 single beds, it makes such a difference to not be sleeping in a bunk bed. The shower was a bit erratic with temperature/stream. Staff were really helpful. Good clean communal areas. Tekapo is lovely

Beautiful place, lovely rooms - we stayed twice, in a double and dorm. Very clean, great kitchen. Also really friendly staff. A great garden, veggies, berries and herbs. My only complaint is that the shower stream was erratic, sometimes strong and sometimes weak...

I had booked a single room, but it was a twin room. I understood why the price was a little expensive for a single room of backpackers. The room was cute. stay in the dorm (6 beds) for 5 nights, nothing special only the price is good (NZD$ 25/per night with BBH card). the smallest kitchen i have ever seen, only 2 stoves to provide at least 30 guests, you can imagine how crowded it is. should try the motor lodge in the village if you don't have the bbh card.
