We were travelling to Tuttlingen to see Steve Lukather at the Honberg-Sommer festival. The hotel location, a few miles out of town, offered the comfort and charm we had sought, and an excellent breakfast buffet (where I ran into Billy Payne of Little Feat). The noise from the road outside the hotel did wake us during the night and early in the morning. We were also disappointed that the beer shed wasn't open - this was one of the reasons why we had chosen the hotel. Also, don't expect the hotel staff to speak English - the hotel owner does but there was no sign of him when we checked in. We had selected the "Gourmet" arrangement when booking our 2-night stay. Whilst our expectation of the concept of gourmet food in Germany was both realistic and with trepidation, we gamely took our places in the restaurant, at the direction of the hotel's owner who made us feel very welcome.
