After staying 6 nights during 'Faschingswoche', we can say we were very pleasantly surprised. We only live up the road in Munich but wanted to take advantage of the snow, both cross-country (Langlauf) & Alpine skiing. Firstly the service, was friendly & helpful, we actually used the train to get there and they offered to pick us up. The facilities... More

The hotel is well kept and lovely and clean. The staff are always willing to help and please and the courtesy shuttle bus from the hotel into the local village of Bayrischzell is a great asset which we used regularly this stay. The skiing nearby is very good and the hotel is near the Wendelstein Mountain which has a cable... More

I loved this hotel. Traditional but contemporary rooms. The atmosphere is so pleasant and the rooms so comfy. For a romantic weekend it must be lovely. We had dinner there with a couple of friends and I have to admit it was sublime. The food was EXCELLENT. It had been a long time I hadn't eaten and drank as well... More

We were travelling as a family with young kids seeking for an overnight hotel. This means we did neither expect nor required a lot but our stay greatly exceeded our expectations. THE PROFITS Wow! Such a friendly greeting, immediate accommodation, large room, large and comfortable bath, kids bed was already installed, we received a short info on the facilities while... More

This property is double-listed for the town, be sure and read both hotels (unless this gets Trip Advisor to combine them). Also, note how going back 6 or 7 years virtually every English-speaker had negative comments about the restaurant (I agree) while all native, German, speakers did not. This goes to different expectations and as an ExPat, I can understand... More

The hotel has all the right amenities but lacks spirit. The staff are distracted and unaware of customers. No water or wine offered with the meal and the half board menu was too restrictive. On leaving the somewhat dull restaurant at the end of a meal the so called sommelier was laid across the food serving area, very inviting! The... More

We stayed at this hotel last night; we wish we could have stayed longer. It’s a beautiful hidden gem, near Wendelstein Mountain. Staff were efficient and welcoming; accommodating all our needs with a smile (including complementary late check out so we can indulge in their spa before we head to Munich airport for our long late night flight). Few types... More

We stayed at the Alpenhof for 5 days over Christmas. We booked half board as we did not want to be looking for restaurants over the Christamas period. Good choice: the food was superb, like going out for a gourmet meal every evening. A cross between table d'hote and a la carte: no choice of first and dessert courses, but... More

I chose Der Alpenhof due to its location on a route I was traveling from France to Austria, and stayed 2 nights here to break up the drive. I found out about Der Alpebhof because it is a Small Leading Hotel. I am rarely disappointed with any of the SLH member hotels, however, I was in for a real treat... More

Der Alpenhof is not a bad hotel, but it’s not a great hotel either. The first surprise -that you can’t find in the guide or the website- is that the hotel borders a very fast road, where cars routinely drive at speeds above 100km/h. Standard rooms (300euros/night) have no bath, but just a shower for lack of space. Opening the... More
