A really remarkable place. A genuine old "palace" dating back to the 1600's but renovated within the last ten years at a cost (I understand) of over £4m. Now a sumptuous country house hotel.
As you park you ask yourself, "Am I really staying here?" Wonderful setting with lakes on two sides and sweeping lawns. Main entrance up imposing staircase opening onto the original huge reception hall complete with grand piano. Modern lift takes you up to the completely renovated bedrooms or suites. Mostly enormous; our room had king-size split bed, sofa, armchair, etc. and was lit by four windows (corner room) and heated by four modern radiators. It was magnificent! Dining room in converted vaulted cellers where we had a good three course meal for 25euros each.
Remarkably peaceful night with no noise from adjacent rooms due to excellent soundproofing. First class buffet style breakfast served across three of the ground floor reception rooms. Rooms, I...
