First, no porter for baggage from car after long drive. No parking signage or guidance.
The hotel is located in a dumpy, maze-like area disconnected from all of the surrounding community. Ocean view? Maybe with binoculars. The decor was tacky, sepulchral, with a lack of any genuineness at all. After we were checked in and shown to our room by the thin, young female housekeeper trying to help with our bags as the reception desk clerk stood there, we were soon summoned back to the desk and told that there was some misunderstanding and that our tiny dachshunds could not stay with us. Although we've stayed in the finest hotels all over Europe with our dogs welcome everywhere, Hotel Ashley would not yield to any reason and the owner/manager refused to even speak to us. We arrived at 4:00pm and were there for 1 night as stop over only between the Amalfi Coast and Sicily.
