OK sure it is touristy but while in the area we wanted to stay in a trulli. The Bed & Breakfast Torre due Pani, just outside Castellana Grotte has a number of rooms in the house but also one trulli in the backyard. We spent the night in this typical dwelling of the region. The trulli was comprised of two rooms, a bedroom and bathroom, both with conical stone roofs. The bedroom was a little snug because of the circular shape. There are no windows in the trulli itself, with light entering only through a window in the door. Nicely furnished, it really was kind of a neat experience to stay a night in the typical building of the area, something I would recommend.
Although not fluent with English Rosalia did suggest a nearby restaurant, La Fontanina, where we enjoyed a nice meal. Breakfast was fine but probably a bit below average.
All in all a nice stop if one wants to experience spending a night in an authentic trulli.
