I am a frequent traveler to Italy but this this was my first trip to Puglia. The area is fascinating, very different from the north of Italy. The hotel is excellent. It's comfortable, full of art and antiques and the food is excellent. The staff were extremely helpful. The only problem... our stay was way too short. I am looking... more

Where's Puglia, people said quizzically, when I decided to get out of London for an autumn break. Now home, I'm wondering that myself, Where is Puglia, Why aren't I still there, I want to go back. It's the Salente Salentino, so luscious and smooth it beats all the French red wines. It's the ever so sweet, bright red tomatoes served... more

Stayed here for 3 days and the weather was not great. But that's why we chose a top hotel with a spa. Unfortunately there weren't many guests and the heating in the indoor pool was turned off, So no swimming. The hotel takes the view that you pay for the room and not the spa so if it is turned... more

I stayed at this hotel for one night than I've been transferred to the sister hotel la Peschiera (see my review). It is a great place! It is a former Masseria (Puglia farm) all sorrounded by huge and ancient olive trees. Even the building is built around some of these trees. It is quite a big hotel with a very... more

The Il Melograno is a good Relais&Chateaux. It is certainly no bargain, but everything was as it should be, with no disappointments. The room was excellent – spacious, quiet, comfortable. The food in the restaurant was quite good, although very pricey. The desserts, in particular, are absurdly overpriced, but if you’re booking a Relais&Chateaux, you know what you’re getting into.... more

I’ve stayed at several Relais & Chateaux properties, and while this was far from the best, it was still a very pleasant place to stay if you’re looking for a quiet and remote setting. The rooms were charming: ours had four separate areas with several windows overlooking the grounds with their ancient olive trees and abundant bougainvillea. Our bathroom had... more

We were a party of six travelling in southern Italy in May '06, and chose Il Melograno for its amenities and location. This hotel is on the site of a former masseria and in the heart of olive and almond groves; the design and layout pay homage to and showcase the many beautiful, ancient olive trees preserved and still producing... more

Hello there: I will tell the good things first, which I experienced traveling with a adult child to Il Melograno, Puglia. The food was ok, not great. They tried to give you a selection, but for a vegetarian, we had eggplant two out of three nights for dinner. We had breakfast served in the room once and it was good,... more

My wife and I have stayed here twice. Is that not the best recommendation for any hotel? We still love it and were agrieved that pressure of work would not allow us to return in September this year as we wanted. We will definitely return again next year though. The owners and staff are friendly and efficient, giving excellent service,... more

Stayed here early Sept/05 and what a disappointment! We were told by the locals that this property has seen better days when it opened years ago. As we approached the hotel, situated in the countryside, we immediately noticed the worn paint....and upkept appearance. The lobby was dark and dated. Pool and pool furniture was also worn; cracks and stained cushions.... more
