This has been a truly excellent weekend trip. The ancient Inn in the middle of a tiny village in the North-East of the Netherlands, yet only 10 minutes away from the city of Groningen has everything you need to unwind completely. From the lovely comfortable room (a suite you might say), the terrace overlooking the acres of green Groningen is renowned for, and on top of all the amazing restaurant. With over 150 whisky to choose from, aperitive by the fireplace is a treat. The restaurant and the innovative menu makes this a place you want to come back to next week rather then next month. The people here are wonderful, the food is fantastic, and the wines are something special, the majority imported from Hungary.
Every now and again, you should allow yourself a treat like this. Don't let the money be a stopper; In Amsterdam I paid for just a dinner the same as the whole superb weekend in the beautiful province of Groningen. more
