The Boschlust is a lovely place to stay in Bergen, not Bergen aan Zee, which is a few miles down the road. The Boschlust is an old hotel just over 100 years old and was taken over by the Germans in the war and was used as a school. Wilma is a wonderful host and is very friendly and accommodating. We go here every year as we love the atmosphere of Bergen. It has its own little outdoor Deer Park that is free to see. It has a set of woods that contains a V1 launch pad. And is a short bus ride from Alkmaar, here they have the train station where you can get to Amsterdam in approx 30-45 mins. Bergen has lots to offer, good shops, bars and places to eat. It has a pancake house just on the outskirts of the village just before the sand dunes that take you Bergen ann Zee and Egmond.
Just on the out skirts of Amsterdam is a pancake house in a pretty little village called Broek in Waterland. I recommend stopping there it is beautiful. http://www.panoramio.com/photo/491841
