On arriving we were given a warm welcome by receptionist but from then on things went downhill. Our room in one of the outside buildings was supposed to be non smoking but on entering the passageway to the room there was a smell of smoke .Inside the room the bed cover looked untidy but we didnt take much notice until later... more

We had a lovely one night stay, beautifull surroundings and a nice room in the outbuilding. Friendly staff and excellent food in the restauraunt. The bar area and breakfast was very good also. Although our room was nicely decorated and the bathroom suite was new the shower was not very powerfull and the drainage was very slow. We would definately... more

We stayed in one of the stable rooms (19) and although all was well on our arrival (except one of the drawers nearly falling out), it became much worse! During the night we were woken up by water from the hanging baskets right outside our door at 2am, plus works going on behind the car park. From 7am we could... more

The main building is exquisite and that is where it ends. The rooms in the stable annex are so run down it is a joke. Wafer thin pillows , , no pillow cases on the disgustingly old spare pillows so that all past stains are glaringly apparent. Beds that have alarming dips into the middle. Housekeeping? Lets see do you... more

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. The hotel itself was a beautiful old building. Our room was an "executive" one in the refurbished stable block at the front of the hotel. The room was a good size and looked as if it had been recently painted, The attached bathroom was quite large with a modern (but very underpowered)... more

We really enjoyed our stay in the Salford Hall Hotel. Even though we paid bargain prices on Expedia we were given beautifully furnished large rooms in the main building. In the evening you can sit in big comfy sofas by the fire and drink wine from their extensive list. They also have a decent hotel restaurant (£20 for two courses,... more

On arrival on Friday afternoon, the weather was not too good, the wind was howling and the rain was horizontal. We were told our room was in the annexe (Room 18, across the courtyard) but we could park our car outside :) We went into our room, the heating was not on, so it was very cold.Turned all the radiators... more

The hotel was lovely from the outside & charming inside, with some lovely features. People who like swanky modern hotels could be disappointed as in keeping with the old building staircases are narrow etc but this is part of the charm of such hotels. Plumbing can be slightly temperamental - you need to let the shower run a little to... more

This was our 4th visit to Salford Hall and is likely to be our last. I had specifically booked a four poster room in the main hotel and not the annex part (because I wanted a room with character and charm, like the one featured in their brochure) for my Fiance's Birthday and we have friends who highly recommended one... more

I was really looking forward to this break away, we drove up towards the hotel and it looked magnificent, what a beautiful old hotel built from Cotswold stone. We walked into the small reception where there was a lovely warming log fire, unfortunately that's where the romance of this trip ended! We stayed in the main building, a place not... more
