We stayed in Hotel Sofia in Matala, our favourite village in Crete, for 3 nights.
The hotel is very basic, rooms are small and without sea view or any view whatsoever.
The place was clean but an overall remodeling of the lobby area and the rooms won't hurt more

My wife and I visited Crete to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and spent two wonderful nights at the Hotel Sophia in Matala. This is a charming little hotel in a beautiful seaside town that is loaded with charm. You won't find a Macdonalds or Burger King here, which we were very happy about. What you will find is an unspoiled gem of a place with plenty of charm, good food and the "Greek island experience".
The people that own and run the hotel Sophia are freindly and accomodating.
I would love to go back there..... Would highly recommend for a romantic getaway. more
