An extensive 200 acre wood surrounds Torre Colombaia. Since 1987, 120 acres of this land are organically cultivated. Enjoy your stay in a restored XIX century farm or in one of the four ex-hunting lodges forming a little village. Each are charmingly decorated with the antique country furniture, typical of the region, and supplied with kitchen. There are also four double rooms at the Casale Cerreto (ancient farm) where you can find our organic Restaurant.

We had originally booked for 3 nights stay and wanted to have our own kitchen, so we opted for the apartment. What the website did not mention is the apartments are located 1-2 km away from the farmhouse, in an isolated area which is secluded. The area looked like a campsite, abandoned and there were no other guests. The facilites are very basic, the buildings are old and looks like they have never been renovated. The apartment we were offered was "Guardiano" - it was very clean but had a mouldy smell. We were shown the other apartments, they were in a more dilapitated condition, including the little castle which was not in a good condition. It was late in the day when we arrived, we were tired and just stayed for a night. We checked out the next morning. Inspite of our disappointing experience we must say the caretaker Paola was extremely friendly and helpful. She tried to help make our stay comfortable and pleasant. Paola helps out at the farmhouse which has 4 rooms for rent - these have no kitchens and are in a much better condition than the old, secluded and dilapidated apartments. We would not recommend the apartments.…

Spent a long weekend here, away from the bustle of Rome. It's a beautiful winding drive through the green heart of Umbria and lush woods to the agriturismo. The farm traces it's history through the Etruscan period (you can see the original stones in the tower), Benedictine monks, and recently, since the 1800s, the family who owns it now. The staff are friendly, more than willing to help and gave me great advice on where to go while I was there. They also had yoga, shiatsu massage, and I was lucky enough to hear the owner play the piano before dinner. The first organic-certified farm in Umbria, dinner featured fresh local produce served in abundance with multiple courses, sublime rustic Italian cuisine, which I ate next to the fireplace with the house wine. They made a great breakfast every morning with their own grains. It's a short drive to Perugia, Assisi, and Deruta, three cities that should definitely be on any Umbrian itinerary. Highly recommend Torre Colombaia, what a wonderful break!…

This is not an easy place to review because it is so unique. The property is about 30 min southwest of Perugia, far from noise and highways. Once at the gate there is a long (muddy) drive through a deep Hansel & Gretel forest to the main house, located in a clearing. The forest is home to wildlife. We saw 2 big hares some pheasant and a red squirrel. We stayed in one of the bedrooms in the main house. The 2 bedrooms share a bathroom, we were lucky to be the only ones there so did not have to share. Our room was large the bed comfortable, but a little dark. All furnishings upstairs and down are old and full of character. The bedrooms are reached by a steep narrow stairs and hallway, which could be tricky for less nimble guests. Downstairs there is a large dining area with a large hearth, and a lovely real wood fire burning- this was the hi light. Free Internet was available downstairs. Breakfast was organic fruits, and home baked goods using their own flour and grains. At 70 euro a night for a shared bathroom seemed a little steep, given how rustic it was but the location was uniquely quiet and natural. The hosts were all family and very friendly. …
