Spend Christmas week there with my extended family. This place does what it says on the tin - it's a quality, family-run hotel in a quiet village in the beautiful Engadine valley.

What you don't get is an international hotel with CNN on the TV, wireless internet, and a breakfast you could be eating in any hotel in the World.

What you do get is good food, friendly & thorough staff, lovely comfortable rooms and afternoon tea. It's just what we wanted, and I'd say that we will be back one summer to see how the valley looks when it's not covered in snow.

Ski-ing in the village is fine for poor skiers like me, and the train service to the slopes at St. Moritz is good.
