Tynemouth and 'The Grand' were both a lovely surprise for a long weekend/attending a wedding nearby. Our sea view room in Laurel house was a good size, very clean, fab shower and daily replenished toiletries. I personally loved the antique style furniture. Continental breakfast was available free of tray charge to the room, which was lovely taken in the chairs... More

This has to be the worst afternoon tea that I have ever had. A good choice of sandwiches was offered however they were tasteless and really disappointing. The cakes were mass produced frozen cakes which had not defrosted properly. This cost £10.50 and would have been a reasonable price if the food had been edible. Left here hungry as the... More

We were pleasantly surprised by the size of our room and the beautiful views we had of the beach. Didn't sleep too well but I have the best mattess in the world at home and didn't expect to sleep that well. Excellent breakfast choices and great staff. The only thing that let it down was it was a bit tired... More

My friends got married and chose the Grand as their venue. I was invited to the evening reception. On arrival asking the reception where to go they directed me to the hotel Lounge which was a bright attractive traditional room with beautiful sea views. After enjoying a drink we were called to go downstairs. The basement is a lot more... More

We've been a good few times to this little bar attached to the side of the Grand Hotel. Usually it's fine and we have a lovely time. We took the children with us this time for Sunday Lunch. The waitress/bar girl was lovely when we ordered our drinks. However our order for meals was taken by a rather abrupt stony-faced... More

Stayed here as we were attending a family wedding held at the grand. Wow! Lovely entrance and from the moment we stepped in we were warmly greeted. Bar drinks slightly expensive, glass of wine and a pint £7.60. But when all said we were in really lovely surroundings, what a place to hold a wedding, separate room for the ceremony... More

This hotel is the former home of The duchess of Northumberland and is in a great location on the cliff top over looking Tynemouth longsands, sitting in the lounge watching dog walkers and surfers is a great pleasure but getting onto the beach is even better. We often visit this hotel for a drink or snack when out for a... More

This truely is a Grand hotel and lived up to all my expectations aswell as my family and friends. They are well known for their spectacular wedding setting, so should be second nature to them to see family and friends passing through for their special day. However celebrating a close family members wedding the weekend just gone, we all agreed... More

My wife and I stayed for a 4th time and we enjoyed our stay and will be back in September. There was one minor hiccup and that was the lift, it had broken down but that was no hardship. The hotel staff were as usual very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was as it always is brilliant. My wife... More

The Grand Hotel certainly lived up to its name. It’s an impressive Hotel situated in a very nice, quaint area of Tynemouth. There are no amusement arcades just old fashioned terraces and a wonderful view of the sea. We stayed in the Victorian annex (Laurel House). The outside looked full of history. Inside were very large rooms with really high... More
