My partner and I stayed here last week whilst travelling in northumberland,we bumped into the owner as she was going out and she was kind enough to show us a room that she had vacant. We stayed in a lovely room at the back on the second floor which overlooked a pretty little garden area and the bay beyond complete... More

We stayed one night at The Martineau in April and wished we could have stayed longer. We were in The Snug right at the top of the building which was very cosy and comfortable. The en-suite shower room is quite small but perfectly adequate. Wonderful choice at breakfast time when it was nice to chat with Sally and a couple... More

This is a wonderful place to stay if you want to be in Tynemouth, but also convenient enough if you want to be close to Newcastle-Gateshead. The B&B is very homely and you are certainly made to feel at home by Sally. We stayed for 5 nights & took 2 rooms the Collingwood & Priory view. Both have lovely views... More

We stayed one night - in the Priory room, which does have good views of the Tyne and Lord Collingwood's monument. The room: Very nicely appointed, small TV but with such a lovely view, who cares. Nicely stocked with drinks and lovely toiletries. The bed was very comfortable - no complaints there! Breakfast - excellent choices and nicely cooked.

Really enjoyed my stay here on Easter Sunday. The rooms are very nice and there's lots of toiletries, which is very welcoming. The house is really quirky and the rooms look great. We had a room right at the top of the house with views out to sea (or is it the mouth of the Tyne!) It was the Priory... More

I stayed five nights at the Martineau and was very comfortable throughout. The room was a generous size and well stocked with toiletries and drinks. Fresh milk was available from the kitchen to take to the room. A superb breakfast menu left me spoiled for choice, but my favourites were Sally's fruit compote with natural yogurt followed by a smoked... More

This is how all guest houses should be - warm, welcoming, friendly, very comfortable beds and with excellent breakfasts prepared by the owner Sally. Well located in Tynemouth village, close to several good coffee bars and bistros with easy parking and access to public tranport. Highly recommended.

My husband and I just spent 3 nights at Martineau. Martineau is a very well-kept guesthouse, with beautifully presented rooms and in a great location. The rooms are clean and well-provisioned and we were even greeted with scones on our arrival which was a nice touch. The owner Sally is very friendly and her breakfasts are extremely tasty! Just arrived back from a two night stay at 'Martineau'. We received a very warm welcome from Sally the owner. The room was lovely and comfortable, extremely clean and had special little touches such as bath robes. The breakfast was faultless, using high quality local ingredients and plenty of choice. A really lovely place to stay in Tynemouth.
