This place is very special. The hosts are incredible and share their property with grace and warmth. The decor is fresh and comfortable with some very thoughtful touches (cookies and truffles!). Breakfast was of a very high standard with lots of choices available. We strongly recommend a stay here and if we are ever back in town this will be... More

We were fortunate enough to spend 3 nights here in late February 2013. Rooms are lovely, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The gardens are gorgeous, full of flowers and birds, and the views of the bay are outstanding. Excellent breakfast served outside, making the most of those views. It was great to share good conversation over a glass of beer/wine... More

Is set in lovely gardens with a view of the Pacific. Breakfast in January was outside and excellent. The hostess was kind and attentive, and the rooms gorgous. Clean and spacious. Only 10 minutes from the beach and forest walks.

From the moment we arrived as weary travellers we were treated with warmth and friendliness. Hosts Sallie and David have achieved the perfect balance with accommodation which is clean, stylish and comfortable and food that is second to none. Breakfast on the verandah was bliss, whilst dinner in the evening was sublime. Sallie and David have thought of everything to... More

We had never met David and Sally Hooper before spending two nights at Brenton Lodge during our tour of North Island. Within a very short time, it felt as if we had been friends for years. Add that to the quality and spaciousness of our accommodation, the setting overlooking the town of Whangamata, and the excellent cooking, and you have... More

My wife and I spent two nights at Brenton Lodge on our recent trip to New Zealand and loved both the place and the people. Our hosts, David and Sallie Hooper, could not have been more helpful and charming. The room was terrific and so is the area; it gets our highest recommendation.

Trailfinders booked my mother and myself a stay at Brenton Lodge as part of our driving tour round New Zealand's North Island last Summer. A very good lodge with extremely friendly hosts plus Jackson their dog. On arriving very late after a very long flight from LA, we were rather exhausted and our hosts took pity on us and provided an excellent cooked meal at very short notice. Our room was good, if a little dated, but otherwise fairly spacious and comfortable. The breakfasts... More

Thank you for your feedback, regarding your stay with us in October this year, however we should address some of your concerns, the tariff at Brenton Lodge has remained the same since 2008, and that is NZ$390.00 (incl gst) per double per night including a full breakfast menu. The room that you stayed in was Tui Cottage and was refurbished... More
